We’ve always been dedicated to the cleanliness of our studios and the health & safety of our community. Now, we’re making them even stronger.
Here are all the changes you can expect:

Top-Grade Disinfectant & More Frequent Cleaning

Staff will use a disinfectant proven to kill viruses like COVID-19 in all common areas after every class. We’ll also be cleaning the studio twice as often per week.

All Megaformers Disinfected

After every class, Megaformers will be thoroughly disinfected. We have removed weights for now; if you’d like to use weights feel free to bring your own pair.

Disinfecting High Touch Surfaces

After every class, we’ll disinfect doorknobs, handles, rails, light switches, sanitizing spray bottles, bathroom, sink, toilet, benches, the front desk, keyboards, computers, phones, and instructor equipment.

Staff Gloves and Recommended Face Masks

Staff will be required to wear gloves and encouraged to wear masks for disinfecting between classes. They’ll wash their hands before and after teaching each class.

Staff Health Checks

If mandated by local or state governments, staff members will be required to check their temperature before their shift.

BYOB Water

To limit hand-to-hand contact, we’re removing our water station so be sure to BYOB water! Hair ties will be behind the desk, available upon request.

Staff Hospitality + Safety

We are here to help, from a safe distance. We’ve put a protocol in place that limits staff from leaving the front desk, aside from studio cleaning. Instructors will minimize walking around the room and will maintain 6 feet distance when they do. In addition, no hands-on corrections will be made, and we’ll keep our hands off your equipment.

If You Need to Late Cancel, Please Do It Before the Deadline

Since we will be running classes below our regular capacity, we’ll be strictly enforcing our cancellation policy so we can welcome as many clients as possible to get on the Megaformer—please remember to cancel 8 hours before class.

If you late cancel due to feeling sick from fever, cough, or other COVID-19 symptoms AND you email us at frontdesk@komohawaii.com on the SAME DAY, this fee will be waived. You will be respectfully expected to follow a 14-day self-quarantine away from the studio until you are well.

Hands Free Check-In

Let your instructor or staff at the front desk know when you arrive, and they’ll check in for you. Plan to arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins as usual. At this time, we won’t allow entry beyond the start of class.

Social Distancing Practices

Our staff will work to get clients in and out of studios, while maintaining social distancing practices. To help, floor markers will indicate a safe distance in the lobby and bathrooms. We ask that you avoid waiting for class in the reception area and consider waiting outside or in your car if you’re comfortable and weather permits it.

Personal Items

To limit the amount of hand-to-hand and contact of items under our benches, we highly suggest bringing only the necessities.

Keep Right

Keep to the right when entering and exiting the studio.

Disinfected for Double Protection

Even after clients clean their Megaformer after class, instructors and/or staff will disinfect Megaformers as a double layer of cleanliness between each class. To help us to minimize the already increased laundering required for towels, please plan to bring your own extra towel if you desire to wipe your machine down again when you arrive.

Unavailable Megas

Some Megaformers may be kept empty (indicated with red pole on carriage). Please select available Megaformers only.

Self Megaformer Setup

Instructors will not adjust equipment for clients. They will announce what to prepare before class starts and cue any other adjustments during class.

The way our new safety process will be most effective is if we all make sure to do our part in it (good thing KOMO members are the best people!)

Aside from respecting the safety guidelines put in place by our government, we ask that any client coming to our studio walks in with the approach our ‘Ohana takes for most things: Support and empower each other.

Please make sure to practice social distancing when in close, shared spaces. Follow the markers placed around the studio to maintain a safe distance.

If you have a cough, fever, or symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to the studio until you’re symptom-free and fever-free.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or have knowingly come into close contact with someone who has, we ask that you do not come to the studio for 14 days or until you’ve tested negative for COVID-19.

If you feel unwell or have any concerns about coming in, please inform us, stay home and stay safe. We’ll happily add the class back to your account, and welcome you back when you’re healthy and feel comfortable coming back.

We’re encouraging members and staff to limit person-to-person contact, including hugs & high fives. Community and aloha is in our DNA—but right now, this is the best way to take care of our collective KOMO ‘Ohana.

It might be a bit overwhelming at first. But trust us: As soon as you feel those signature shakes within the first minute of class, you’ll find yourself in that familiar place you know and love. That sanctuary you’ve been needing now more than ever will be even safer now—and we can’t wait to see you there! We’ll get through this strange time in history stronger, together.

Monitoring the Situation
While we’re taking every precaution to keep our community safe (and encourage you to do the same), we’re acutely aware of and highly prepared for the possibility of a second wave.

Supporting our KOMO Community
With no way to predict what will happen, the best way we can prepare is to respond and evolve as the situation develops—with nothing but your safety in mind.

Whether you plan to join us in the studio, or feel more comfortable staying home, we’re here for you. If you have questions or concerns, let’s talk story. Email us at frontdesk@komohawaii.com!
